AE fines and admin idjits

Today, many players received "warnings" for using scripts for auto-scout/auto-move/etc, some players not even able to install scripts as they are playing from their cellular phones.

Upon reading the AE Forums, I find that this isn't just me or my guild being hit with these fines, however, multiple guilds/players on multiple servers.

I look forward to hearing from any and all on this matter...feel free to post. No asshats please. This is something that I feel may cause the mass exodus against AE and want to find if I am alone in this thought process. If you have anything constructive to say, please add it.

*NOTE: If you wish to post this in your profile, which I would appreciate so we can get more people involved, please copy the below coding and paste it in your profile! :D Can change the wording for the link, but please add the link in one capacity or another!

  1. We can't all leave because the decreased traffic might even out from the lowered income. We need to spam refresh and stop paying for upgrades. Hit them where it really hurts, in the dick.

  2. I am debating if remaining on AE is worth it considering the stance that these guys are taking. How is someone supposed to prove that they are not using a script? Is it even possible beyond saying, "No, I don't use any scripts." To which AE Admin will say..."tough shit, we know you're using them so deal." And this being whether you do or not.

They are even deleting threads on the AE forums that are attacking the admins' decision to do this on a wide scale. Is it that because they don't want people to know that they aren't really doing a damn thing to improve the game play, but doing stupid things like the layout for the profile page. *rolls eyes*

Someone mentioned in the forum to simply take a good script and add it to the game to improve the worth of the game to play instead of these cosmetic updates that are really pointless. Of course, you won't be able to read that now..except here of course. ;)

  3. I really dont understand how they expect you to play the game. Do we rely only on bookmarks and moving scouts when you need to? What are we paying for besides uptime? They never make any real changes. Except for shield buffs to capitals the game is unchanged except for small layout changes and additions.

  5. I just looked at my "upgrades history" for AE. On one server alone I have purchased 14 1 month upgrades, 20 3 month upgrades, 4 6 month upgrades and 2 1 year upgrades. Needless to say, I tend to "gift" friends and those unable to pay for upgrades. That was just for one server, I do this on every server I play. I will not be doing this ever again. I have decided to fine the Admins for being unable to spell, unable to prove any wrong doing to people, being guilty without any chance of being able to prove innocence, and having an attitude of "screw you."

99% of all the "updates" they have made with my hard earned money have been cosmetic. Their answer to the lag on helion was to make it so you have to hit yet ANOTHER button to see your profile as others would. Oh yeah, that REALLY improves game play. I've hit refresh so many times just to get a page to load I have a callous on my finger. There has not been one beneficial update to the game since adding tachyon and capital in September, 2008.

If the Admins don't care about the game, why should we?

It seems they want to push people out of the game to get a new crop of players or the other theory is, they aren't doing so well financially and don't want to have to refund upgraded players in the event they shut it down. However, anyone who has paid with a credit card can merely contact their credit card company and state they are NOT getting the service they paid for and be refunded their payment. The credit card company will pull the money from the merchant (in this case, AE). I know I didn't sign up for a game that lags and has different rules for different people depending on who you are.

Guess they just don't want us playing anymore. So, I'll grab my ball and go play elsewhere.

Hope the admins have fun playing with themselves....

P.S. I also have to wonder if my virus protection software which scans a web page each time it loads and checks the certificate is considered a script. If so, then I am guilty. I won't be getting rid of my virus/spyware seeing they want full access to my computer and I can't block cookies or other violations of my privacy by them.

They want their cake and eat it too. Last time I checked, cake was a lie.

  6. It has also been brought to my attention that several people with approved IP share have been suspended for supposedly having multiple accounts. Does this mean that two people can't possibly use the same IP address even with their approved IP share form?

  7. What AE doesn't realize is that many players are growing tired of the game, even on several servers. While script/bot usage (those who were doing it) is illegal, it kept them playing the game because of their not having to spend 12 hours scouting 1 galaxy. I foresee this crackdown doing more against AE than they realize. There will be alot more players to hit (players will be leaving the game). You will have alot fewer players upgrading (you have a good many of these "scripting" users, upgrading 10+ accounts. I've upgraded 7 accounts myself, for 1 month, 3 month and year upgrades. All because I gained friends in this game. It will not happen anymore however. I do find it interesting that no one in the Admin's guilds have been penalized as such. Interesting way to punish your enemy neighbors/guilds, slap them with a 2 day penalty and leave your own players alone who use the same utilities.

And thus the downfall of AE begins..

  8. With the drop in paying players, lets see them keep this number of servers alive... It won't happen, I foresee there being just 4 or fewer servers soon. Which ones will they close down? Would this create a problem with those that have paid for much longer?

  9. AE is unjustified in their actions, the people being banned have ip sharing permissions and this amounts to nothing more then a witch hunt. In regards to the scripts, also crap if they had come up with it they would love it but they didnt so they do this to paying customers. Everyone should no longer upgrade and send emails to AE support. These people being banned are upgraded and are requesting their money back from paypal and CC companies. They have officially destroyed AE

  10. I was just informed that there has begun the mass walk out of AE players. An entire guild on Helion deleted their accounts even..I am sure there will be others that follow suit.

  12. Feel free to have them post here. The more people post, the more that will know what's really going on.

  13. I paid their fees so that me and my wife could play ae at home together using a shared ip adress then they say that my accouts are being deleted b/c im useing to accounts on the same server wich is not true and when i asked they told me that i knew the rules and i broke them im pretty sure i did not.

  14. yeah, they've shit the bed. they wanna keep small world view when player base wants moar. money = moar. i pay money, i want moar. if entire guild systems can be built to facilitate ease of play around a redundant "click-2-infinity" game, then we might as well build a new game entirely. AI= i don't have to f'ing button mash for my scans. i'm done paying AE money

  17. I decided to respond to their accusations of using scripts and even offered to include a detailed description of how I do my scouting. In my email to them, I also requested to know exactly what decided that someone was using a script.

There was a player who was fined AND suspended for too many "server requests" in a 48hr period. For those that are not aware, a server request is every time you click on a page and it goes to their server. This also includes if your anti-virus/anti-spyware pings their server for certificate authentication.

I have not heard from them, other than their automated response, and upon looking at my "ticket", it's been put on hold. Reassuring, eh?

Also, thanks to the wonderful lag on helion, something else has been brought to my attention. While many have probably seen on the status bar that it says, "read cdn.astroempires.com...". Well, I saw a new one last night, "Waiting for staff.astroempires.com". I am very curious, now, as to what that page might be and what it does.

Oh, did anyone notice that Admin instituted the fleet summary as part of their new little update? Guess people saying to take things from the scripts and put them into the game was actually listened to..to a degree anyhow. So when can we look forward to guild databases being instituted? Would eliminate people making scripts for databases.

  18. Hey, guess what? They're back to being dicks again! They've spent all this time not doing meaningful updates (the languages are all done by volunteers, not the devs) but thinking of ways to trap "scripts" so they could hand out warnings to people who play on cell phones and the like!

The guild on Ceti that deleted en mass was HellHounds, and they went to play Outer Core instead.
